The NSRC, Asian Institute of Technolgoy's intERLab and the TEIN Coordination Center (TEIN*CC) teamed up to teach a workshop on Network Monitoring and Management, perfSONAR, Network Design and Software Defined Networking, in Bangkok, Thailand. Over the last two days, wireless experts from the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP - Trieste, Italy) and the Network Startup Resource Center have worked alongside staff from University of Ghana - Legon and Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) to plan and deploy a wireless link between the UCAD and the ADIE (Agence De l’Informatique de l’État) in Dakar, Sénégal. The wireless link is an important step that will help interconnect the universities of Thiès, Bambey, Saint Louis and the UCAD into what will become Sénégal’s national R&E network (Research and Education), SnRER.

This workshop provided an introduction to WSN and into the Arduino platform in particular, through lectures and hands on sessions. It gave participants the opportunity to build their own WSN, to send data using different wireless technologies and to store measurements in online databases. This workshop took place from December 15-19, 2014 at the intERLab at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand.
